PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Holmes, Swallows come up big for St. Maries on senior night
ST. MARIES — The two seniors came up big on senior night as the St. Maries Lumberjacks beat the Timberlake Tigers 71-63 in the regular season finale for both teams.
Wyatt Holmes had 18 points and nine rebounds for St. Maries (13-7), and Seth Swallows was 4 of 8 from 3-point range and scored 17 points.
“Nice to have some senior leadership on senior night,” St. Maries coach Bryan Chase said.
Jack Barta added 11 points, Isaiah Gustaffe six rebounds for the Lumberjacks.
Tyler Engelson scored a game-high 23 points for Timberlake (6-14). Lucas Vallieres scored seven of his 12 points in the fourth quarter, including a 3 to pull the Tigers within 60-58 with 3 minutes left.
Timberlake travels to Bonners Ferry on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for Game 1 of a best-of-3 series for the 3A District 1 title.
Top-seeded St. Maries plays host to Monday’s Kellogg-Priest River winner on Tuesday at 6 in the 2A District 1-2 tournament.

WALLACE — Junior Julian Davis scored 18 of his game-high 25 points in the first half as the Miners downed the Warriors in the regular season finale at Kirby Krulitz Court.
Stephen Paul added 13 points, Emmitt Myles 11 for Wallace (6-12).
Chris Moore led Kootenai (2-14) with nine points.
Wallace plays Genesis Prep on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at North Idaho College in the first round of the 1A Division I District 1 tournament.
Kootenai faces Mullan on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at NIC in the first round of the 1A Division II District 1 tournament.
