Ridge Lovett

Nebraska wrestling

Lovett, a redshirt junior from Post Falls High, claimed his first career NCAA Wrestler of the Week honor, when the NCAA announced its award winners on Tuesday afternoon.

The NCAA All-American improved to 20-0 on the season and 11-0 in dual competition with his recent victory over Michigan’s No. 6 Austin Gomez, 11-4. Lovett came out hot with seven points in Period 1. After choosing to start on top in Period 2, Lovett tacked on another two points with a nearfall and clocked over four minutes of riding time. A takedown for Gomez in Period 3 wasn’t enough, as Lovett, the top-ranked wrestler at 149 pounds, took the decision and the fourth straight Top 10 win for the Huskers.

Carter Gordon

Lewis-Clark State track and field

Gordon, a junior from Lake City High, had a standout weekend with a pair of A standards. He ran a leg of the 4x800-meter relay team that lapped the competition and finished with a time of 7:47.11 for the second-best time in program history. He went on to dominate the solo 800m with the sixth-best time in the NAIA this season at 1:52.72. The A standard is the second-fastest by a Warrior in school history. This is Gordon’s first weekly honor this season and second in his career.
