LESS TRASH: And better project planning needed

| February 14, 2024 1:00 AM

I am wondering what we can do as a community to clean up along the freeway, I-90, especially between Coeur d’Alene and Stateline? Traveling back-and-forth repeatedly, I have noticed it looks horrible. Trash, trash, trash! We have such beautiful communities here and this doesn’t reflect well on us.

Additionally, I’m so disappointed to see the huge pine trees being cut down between Seltice and the river, and all the development with tall apartment buildings blocking the views of the river. I can’t believe this was approved. Only two small parks, with the dog park being quite homely, were added. No benches or shade by the river.

Honestly, was this the best we could do? Our parks in downtown Coeur d’Alene and by the Spokane River in Post Falls are lovely. We need to make sure our civic leaders are approving projects we will be proud of in the future, not regretting them.
