Sheriff's Office Notable Calls

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office published the following notable calls that occurred between Feb. 9 and Feb. 11. The sheriff’s office describes this information as preliminary and subject to revision as investigations continue.

Feb. 9 — Deputies and detectives did some follow-up at a residence in Dalton Gardens in reference to a theft. On scene, they located two stolen trailers. The suspect for the theft was already in custody.

Feb. 9 — Deputies responded to a disorderly subject in the area of Government Way and Hayden Avenue. It was reported a male was standing in traffic and yelling. They contacted a male, who was upset over issues with his landlord.

Feb. 9 — Deputies contacted a vehicle in the parking lot of the Coeur d’Alene Casino. During the contact, drug paraphernalia was located in plain sight. The driver was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of meth and fentanyl. The passenger was issued a citation for possession of paraphernalia and being under the influence in public.

Feb. 9 — Deputies responded to the 6900 block of Government Way for a report of a vehicle being struck by a stick or spear. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the male subject. Based on the investigation and the behavior of the male, he was taken to Kootenai Health and placed on a protective custody hold.

Feb. 9 — Deputies responded to a psychological call. It was reported by family members that a male was throwing things in the residence. After talking to all the parties involved, the male was taken to Kootenai Health and placed on a protective custody hold.

Feb. 9 — Multiple deputies responded to a residence in the Post Falls area for a possible domestic. On scene, it was determined a crime of misdemeanor domestic assault occurred. The male half refused to exit the residence. The female half agreed to stay at another location for the evening and a complaint was filed charging the male.

Feb. 9 — A deputy made a traffic stop in the area of Hayden Avenue and Chateaux Avenue and ended up arresting the driver for DUI.

Feb. 9 — A deputy made a traffic stop in the area of Idahline Road and Hydra Place. During the contact, the driver was arrested for DUI. During an inventory of the vehicle, a bag with white powdery substance was located. The powder tested positive for cocaine and the driver was also charged with the drug charge.

Feb. 10 — A deputy responded to a report of a trespassing call in the Athol area. The suspects were attempting to build a road on land that the courts determined was not theirs. When confronted, the suspects were eventually placed into handcuffs and arrested for the trespassing charge.  

Feb. 10 — Deputies responded to the Hayden Maverick for a welfare check. Deputies arrived on scene and eventually located the subject walking down Hayden Avenue near Government Way. In checking the welfare of the male, it was determined he was not a danger to himself and no crimes had been committed and the male was sent home.

Feb. 10 — Deputies responded to a report of a possible DUI at Hayden and Ramsey Road. The vehicle was located and the driver was eventually arrested for DUI.

Feb. 10 — A deputy made a traffic stop at Hayden and Government. During the stop, the driver was arrested for DUI.

Feb. 11 — Deputies responded to a domestic dispute in the Post Falls area. Deputies learned there was a physical fight and medical was called to treat the injuries on the female. The male was arrested for felony domestic battery.

Feb. 11 — Deputies responded to the area of the Hayden Shopping Center for a report of a DUI. The vehicle was eventually located and the driver was charged with DUI.

Feb. 11 — Deputies responded to a traffic offense in the area of Lancaster and U.S. 95. The vehicle was located in the Lancaster Market. Contact was made with the female driver and, after an investigation, the driver was arrested for her three multiple active warrants and also charged with DUI.

Feb. 11 — Deputies responded to a psychological call. During the investigation, it was learned the male was acting irrational and agitated and was experiencing psychological issues. While deputies were on scene gathering information from the family, the male ran out of the house and tried to get into a vehicle. Based on how the male was acting, he was taken to Kootenai Health and placed into protective custody.
