“The first half was pretty bad,” St. Maries coach Bryan Chase said. “We could not finish with a little bit of contact, couldn’t get anything going until the third quarter. They’re definitely one of the favorites to win state, and we couldn’t match up with their size.”
Hunter Taylor hit six 3-pointers in the first half, and scored 18 of his 20 points before intermission for Kendrick (17-4). Lane Clemenhagen and Ralli Roetcisoender added 14 points each for the Tigers.

“Proud of the kids in the third quarter,” Chase said. “I think they were just as disappointed as I was in their performance in the first half.”

“We knew coming into this game today that it would be a brain-teaser for us — to see if we're staying focused or not,“ Clark Fork coach Heath Beason said. “We played hard in our previous game and we’re trying to keep the momentum going. We have a big game coming up Tuesday. Tonight we seemed to be a little flat-footed in the first half and picked it up in the second half.”
Chris Moore led Kootenai with 23 points and five steals.
“After the first quarter I thought to myself, 'We might figure this out,’” Kootenai coach Tom Tucker said. “They were playing together and had 12 turnovers but got overwhelmed with fatigue playing their third game in three nights ... These kids have been banged up all season — sprained ankles, heads bouncing off size 12 sneakers and never giving up shows a lot of heart.”
“Kootenai played hard and deserved everything they got today,” Beason said. “They did a lot better than when we traveled there earlier this year, and to me, that shows basketball is getting better in our league.”
On Tuesday, Kootenai plays host to Mullan in North Star League play, and Clark Fork visits the Sandpoint JV.
