| February 11, 2024 1:20 AM

GRANGEVILLE — Not Saturday.

Lake City wanted more.

Now, the Timberwolves will get that opportunity.

Senior Sophia Zufelt scored 19 of her game-high 22 points in the second half for the Timberwolves, who beat the Timberline Wolves of Boise 72-47 in a state 5A play-in game, advancing to state starting Thursday at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.

Lake City (23-2), second in the state 5A rankings according to MaxPreps.com, will await its opening round matchup when brackets are set on Monday.

Senior Avery Waddington, who signed with Montana in November, scored 18 points for Lake City.

“The seniors as a whole played really well today,” first-year Lake City coach David Pratt said. “They just wanted more for their senior year. They just came together and wanted to win the game. Timberline did a good job of attacking what we were trying to do in the first half. But in the second half, they just weren’t going to be denied.”

Zufelt hit four of Lake City’s 11 3-pointers, including three straight in the third quarter.

“She just played a really good game,” Pratt said. “She was just fantastic in the second half.”
