PREP ROUNDUP: Barnhart, Genatone win on senior night for Post Falls

POST FALLS — Tyler Barnhart (145 pounds) and Taycen Genatone (152) notched wins on senior night for Post Falls in a 52-21 dual win over the Lakeland Hawks at The Arena on Thursday.

Barnhart pinned Lakeland’s Kros O’Brien in 5 minutes, 56 seconds in the 145-pound bout. Genatone won by major decision over Lakeland’s Austin Howell 11-3.

Post Falls is off until the 5A Region 1 tournament next Saturday at The Arena.

Lakeland competes in the 4A Region 1 tournament next Saturday at Sandpoint High.

CLARK FORK — Sophomore Tyson Charley scored 27 points as the visiting Knights downed the Wampus Cats in nonleague play.

Liam Hendrickx added 17 points for Lakeside (12-3). Brutis SiJohn scored 13 points, Blaze Callahan 10 for the Knights.

Chase Sanroman led Clark Fork (9-5) with 16 points. 

Lakeside wraps up the regular season next Tuesday at Wallace in Scenic Idaho Conference play.

HARRISON FLATS — Junior Julian Davis scored 25 points for the Miners in a nonleague win over the Warriors at Kootenai High.

Junior Christopher Moore scored 21 points and freshman Logan Strobel scored 15 points  for Kootenai (1-11), which hosts Highland of Craigmont tonight at 5:30.

“It was a great effort by all my Warriors tonight,” Kootenai coach Tom Tucker said. “We played with determination on defense and moved the ball around much better tonight. But those nasty turnover were once again a nemesis. Chris is finding his leadership role and freshman (Logan) Strobel again had an outstanding game, showing a lot of heart.”

Freshman Emmitt Myles scored 20 points for Wallace (4-10), which hosts Kellogg tonight at 6.

SPOKANE VALLEY — Colton Smith had 21 points, 11 rebounds and three steals for the fourth-seeded Lions in a win over the fifth-seeded Eagles in the opening round of the Mountain Christian League tournament at The Oaks.

Luke McWhorter had 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks and Anthony Mametieff had four rebounds and one steal for Christian Center (11-9), which faces top seed The Oaks in a semifinal game tonight at 6.

Seth Hathaway scored 23 points for Pullman Christian (9-7).

SPOKANE VALLEY — Junior Carson Malinauskas totaled 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals as the second-seeded Royals outscored the seventh-seeded Thunder 24-11 in the third quarter of a first-round game of the Mountain Christian League Tournament at Valley Christian.

Caden Smith added 15 points and 11 rebounds for North Idaho Christian (15-7), which plays third-seeded Spokane Classical Christian in a semifinal game today at 2:30 at The Oaks in Spokane Valley. Ethan Antone had 10 points for the Royals.

Dylan Day led Kootenai Thunder with 18 points.
