ST. MARIES — Modernization of the electrical system at the Bureau of Land Management’s Huckleberry Campground is complete and reservations for summer camping can now be made.

Following the improvements last summer, the campground can support 50-amp service to recreational vehicles.

The seasonal reservation system for Huckleberry Campground is available on www.Recreation.gov and reservations can now be made through Sept. 3.

“We realize that the temporary pause for reservations last summer caused an inconvenience to campers, but it was necessary to allow for construction of the updated electrical system,” said Coeur d’Alene field manager Ray Pease. “We are excited to provide an even better camping experience for Huckleberry visitors and to showcase the natural beauty that the area has to offer.”

Through the completion of the electrical system modernization a better recreational experience for visitors will be provided. The site now has the capability to serve visitors with modern recreational vehicles and the accompanying equipment.

Following the Labor Day weekend, the BLM plans to conduct additional improvements at the site; campsites will be available on a first come-first serve basis while work is being conducted.
