James Edward Shelton, 58

James Edward Shelton, "Jim," age 58, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away Dec. 14, 2023, at home, due to natural causes.

Jim was born May 30, 1965, to Russell Dean and Ida Maria (Pasquale) Shelton in Los Gatos, Calif. He lived in San Jose, Calif., until the age of 12, when he moved to Napa, Calif. Jim was an outstanding football player throughout high school, playing on the varsity and JV teams simultaneously. Jim went to Lewis-Clark State College and graduated with a degree in business. He went on to work as a plumber for many years.

In 1998, he married Cassandra Rae Woempner and, together, they raised a daughter, Michaela Elizabeth Woempner, and a son, Owen Gage Shelton. He was also a hands-on ‘Papa’ to Ryan.

Jim loved working outdoors and making his yard his sanctuary. He was proud of his roses and of the work he did to make his garden beautiful.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Ida Shelton, and his father-in-law, Verland Woempner. 

He is survived by his wife, Cassandra Rae, his daughter, Michaela, son Owen, granddaughter Laela Rae, his brother, Christopher Shelton (wife Tori), sister Carolyn Thomas (husband Syd), and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
