COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore Josh Watson and freshman James Carlson dominated inside, and junior Reese Strawn broke the school record for 3-pointers in a season as the Lake City Timberwolves downed the visiting Moscow Bears 70-52 in Inland Empire League play Saturday.

Watson had nine of his 17 points in the first quarter, and also had three blocked shots for Lake City (11-7, 3-3 IEL). Carlson added 16 points and 10 rebounds.

“We started really, really well,” Lake City coach James Anderson said. “It always helps when you make a couple shots and get the energy going. Josh Watson had a huge first quarter, rolling hard to the rim. And Jordan Carlson came in and gave us a huge lift. Nice to see our two big guys lead us in scoring and get us a whole bunch of points in the paint. It opens up everything for everyone.”

Strawn, who finished with 13 points and seven assists, made two 3-pointers, giving him 66 for the season, breaking the previous record set by JJ Winger, who graduated in 2014.

Grant Abendroth led Moscow (8-10, 4-3) with 12 points.

Lake City travels to Lewiston on Wednesday.
