Hayden, ID: Hayden Canyon Charter (HCC) is accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Hayden Canyon Charter meets the needs of a diverse student population. HCC is “designed to prepare youth – through hands-on learning, in critical thinking and character development – to blaze new trails and solve real world problems.” The curriculum, instruction, and assessment are designed around project-based themes and hands-on applied learning that encompasses all subject areas throughout the day. Students will explore this applied learning approach, aligned with the highest academic standards, through outdoor field experiences, artistic discovery, scientific investigation, STEM activities and innovative process improvement. Applied learning experiences will incorporate design processes and peer collaboration. About Hayden Canyon Charter: Hayden Canyon Charter (HCC) is a local educational non-profit whose mission is to achieve breakthroughs in academic excellence and character development by inspiring passion for inquiry and lifelong learning – utilizing hands-on discovery, real world application, collaboration and community; preparing each student for engagement in productive, thoughtful citizenship. Application deadline: 5:00pm (Pacific Time) on Friday, March 8, 2024. Applications must be received by the March 8 deadline to be entered into the lottery process. Lottery Date: March 11, 2024 at 5:00pm (Pacific Time). Notification of enrollment will be sent beginning March 12, 2024. The HCC board reserves the option to extend the enrollment period, or have a second chance lottery, if target enrollment is not met during the initial lottery process. All prospective students will be given the opportunity to enroll in the public charter school regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, social or economic status, or special needs. The application will open again on March 11, 2024 for those who did not make the initial deadline. Students who an application is received for after March 8 will be added to the bottom of the waitlist in the order their application is received. Enrollment: Hayden Canyon Charter will enroll a maximum of 668 students (including returning students) for the 2024-2025 year. All prospective students will be given the opportunity to enroll at Hayden Canyon Charter regardless of race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, socioeconomic status, or special needs. Location: Hayden Canyon Charter is located at 13590 N Government Way, Hayden, ID. The primary attendance area for HCC as shown on the map (in Appendix I). It encompasses existing and proposed neighborhoods in the area. Specifically: The primary attendance zone will commence at the intersection of Boekel Road and Atlas Road, continuing south to the intersection of Atlas Road and Honeysuckle Avenue and following the shoreline of Hayden Lake to a point south of the intersection of East English Point Road and North Meadowwood Lane. From there, the attendance zone continues north to a point at the center of East Dodd Road, then east along the center of Boekel Road to the point of origin.
