| February 2, 2024 1:00 AM

WALLACE — The Frank A. Morbeck Community Foundation is accepting applications for its 2024 grant cycle.

The Wallace-based Morbeck Foundation has donated over $3.3 million since its inception in 2001 and is opening up applications for both youth and community categories.

According to a recent release from the Foundation, youth grant applications must seek to foster, develop and encourage the participation of Wallace area youth in recreational, athletic, academic or learning programs.

This applies to any youth within the boundaries of the Wallace School District No. 393.

Community grants must be for local organizations within the Wallace community.

The deadline for submitting applications is March 1, and then following the meeting of the Morbeck Foundation’s board of directors, their selections will be announced in April.

All grants and awards will be made at the discretion of the directors, all of whom are from the Wallace community, and the awards are derived from the income and earnings generated by the foundation.

The foundation is an Idaho nonprofit corporation that Frank A. Morbeck created to benefit the quality of life in and throughout the community and surrounding area of Wallace by fostering and enhancing charitable giving and philanthropic purposes.

Morbeck passed away in May of 2000 at the age of 78. Following his passing, he left the majority of his estate to the foundation.

“Mr. Morbeck strongly believed that the future of any community was its youth, and his purpose in forming the Foundation was to provide a means upon which the community and its youth could enjoy the benefits of his years of investing in the community,” Foundation president Michael Branstetter said.

For an application form, please contact the Secretary of the Morbeck Foundation, Julie Magnuson, at P.O. Box 1089, Wallace, ID 83873, 208-556-3888, or by email at morbeckfoundation@gmail.com.
