Flerchinger joins Panhandle Health District
Panhandle Health District announced its welcome of Alex Flerchinger, primary care provider, who will be seeing patients in PHD’s Hayden, Kellogg and St. Maries locations. Flerchinger has been a nurse for 30 years and a family nurse practitioner for 22 years.
“I was lucky enough to be my grandmother’s patient when I delivered my first baby, which triggered my interest to become a nurse,” Flerchinger said in a news release. “I first worked in a small community hospital, learning essential nursing skills in all departments. I most enjoyed labor and delivery while working with the entire family.”
From that experience, Flerchinger became interested in educating clients on better prevention and management of chronic conditions. This led her to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner, graduating from Gonzaga University.
“I enjoy getting to know the clients I serve so that I can learn what their unique needs are and work with them to reach their best health,” Flerchinger said.
She joins a team of experienced nurse practitioners, a medical doctor and support staff eager to care for community members.
Flerchinger has three grown children, three dogs and a cat at home. She and her husband enjoy home improvement projects and playing in the beautiful outdoors, including skiing, hiking, bicycling, kayaking, boating and gardening, as well as spending time with family.
PHD has locations in Hayden, Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry, St. Maries and Kellogg.
