John Anderson Logan, 91
John was born June 16, 1932, in Boise, Idaho, to Lloyd and Bonnie Logan. He had a younger sister, Beulah, and a half-sister, Clarice. In 1957, he married Myrle Vanderford and had two stepsons, John and Bill Vanderford. Myrle died in 2000 and John married Linda Aldendorf in 2001. Linda’s five grown children became John’s stepchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Lloyd Clifford, who was killed during World War II and who John especially loved; his sisters; stepson, John; and his second wife, Linda Logan. He is survived by his stepsons, Bill Vanderford and Jim Nelson; and stepdaughters Janice Schmidt, Jeanette Betton and Jeri Allen, and her husband, Dallas; also many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After dropping out of high school, John spent four years in the Air Force during the Korean War training jet engine mechanics. He spent a large part of his life selling at retail. He immigrated to British Columbia for two years with his first wife and son. In 1962, they moved to San Diego, where John eventually became half-owner in a very successful insulation contracting business. He subsequently sold out to his partner and got involved in owning small motel properties. Once he had five at one time in four states. He became known to the Paul B. Larsen Real Estate Company in Boise and sold motel properties for them as a real estate agent.
In John’s later years, he sold furniture for Runge Furniture in Coeur d’Alene for about 15 years. John was a member of the Community of Christ in Spokane.
A visitation/viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A funeral service will be held the next day, Saturday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. at the same location.
