LA MESA, Calif. — They learned.
Then, the Post Falls Trojans put it in motion.
Junior Connor Carver scored 13 of his game-high 18 points in the first half for the Trojans in a 62-47 win over Wasilla, Alaska, in a consolation game in the Surf ‘N Slam Classic at Helix Charter School on Saturday.
“We came out and responded well,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. “Yesterday, we had a team that came out and stuck it to us (Broken Arrow, Okla., beat the Trojans 63-37) and the guys showed some resiliency. We talked about what we learned and came out and moved forward as a team. Wasilla came out in an extended zone to get us out of rhythm, but we made some adjustments at halftime and the guys responded well.”
Tyras Blake and Trenton McLean scored 10 points each for Post Falls (7-4), which faces Acalanes of Lafayette, Calif., in the fourth-place game on Monday.
“I was pleased with our guys making the quick adjustment to take advantage of some things,” McLean said. “It was a really good opportunity to work on some different sets and motions we anticipate seeing in league.”
