Love, Boardwalk style

| December 28, 2024 1:05 AM

As the end of the year approaches, DatingNews wanted to find out from 3,000 women in relationships (but not yet married) where their dream proposals would take place on New Year’s Eve 2024. More specifically, which landmark, or location would be the perfect setting for their significant others to get down on one knee?

No. 1 on the list was The Coeur d’Alene Resort Boardwalk.

"Idaho women overwhelmingly chose Coeur d’Alene Resort Boardwalk as their top spot for a NYE 2024 marriage proposal," the survey said. "This lakeside spot turns into a winter wonderland during the holidays. The lights reflecting on the water and NYE fireworks make it feel like a scene straight out of a movie."

The Resort offers a "Perfect Proposal Package," described as "an exquisite blend of romance and luxury designed to make your special moment truly unforgettable. Picture this: a stunning lake backdrop illuminated by our MARRY ME 4ft Tall Metal Light Up Letters. Enjoy a luxurious stay in our Lake Tower Room, relax and connect with a 50-minute couples massage before toasting with Champagne & Strawberries and a Rose Petal Turndown."

"The Floating Boardwalk at The Coeur d'Alene Resort is pure magic for popping the question — epic lake views, romance in the air and a moment they’ll never forget," said Amy VanSickle, director of marketing. "We’re often tagged in the sweetest proposal photos and love hosting newly engaged couples at The Resort to celebrate after they say 'yes!'"

Other top Idaho proposal sites include the Snake River Greenbelt in Idaho Falls and the Boise Depot.

DatingNews also asked some further questions about the perfect proposal, and found that overall, Idaho women’s preference for the actual moment of the question being popped would be that it was just the couple, in a private moment, with no one else around (78%).

Twenty percent would be happy to have a small group of close friends or family nearby, so they could all join in the celebration afterward, while a bold 2% would love it to be a grand, public spectacle with a large audience, the survey found.

The majority (60%) also wanted a classic kneeling down with the ring box for the ring reveal. Twenty-two percent are up for a creative surprise, like a scavenger hunt where they don’t know what the prize is, or an elaborate reveal. A further 18% would love to find it hidden in a meaningful object, like a book or an ice cream sundae.

The perfect moment for the proposal during New Year’s Eve would be just before the clock strikes midnight, according to nearly half (46%) of women. Thirty percent would love it to happen during a shared dinner or event earlier in the night (after all, the question could get lost in the excitement of the bells ringing), while 24% would prefer it to happen early in the evening, then they can spend the rest of the night celebrating, according to the survey.
