SNOHOMISH, Wash. — The climb back to the Top of the Peak for the defending champion Lake City Timberwolves got a little quicker on Thursday afternoon.
Lake City, scheduled to face Deer Park in the final game of the evening, received a bye after the Stags’ pulled out of the tournament due to hazerdous road conditions near Snoqualmie Pass.
The area was hit with a snowstorm on Thursday morning, but had cleared by mid-day.
“They’re superintendent called it because the pass was really bad,” said Lake City girls basketball coach David Pratt, whose team flew on Thursday from Spokane to Seattle. “They had to make a decision and felt it wasn’t safe to travel.”
Lake City advances to face Chiawana of Pasco in a semifinal game tonight at 8:15.
