COEUR d’ALENE — Lake City coach James Anderson knows that if the Timberwolves are going to have some success this season, they’ve got to find a nice balance to their offense.

So defensively, they worked.

“It’s been a huge point of emphasis to defend better,” said Anderson, whose team beat Central Valley 67-48 on Friday night. “We’re slowing it down a little more, but we thought our biggest avenue was to shave six points off the defensive side of the ball.”

Junior Josh Watson scored 15 points, junior Jackson Bowman and sophomore Jordan Carlson 10 points for Lake City (7-3).

“Overall our team effort was fantastic tonight,” Anderson said. “Jackson, we’ve asked a lot of him to guard the best players in the state in the last week, and he’s getting good at handling that. Both him and Paxton (Winey) have been alternating and doing a good job for us.”

Lake City hosts Mead tonight at 6.

Hunter Bernhart scored 13 points for Central Valley (3-4).
