COEUR d’ALENE — Missing five starters — and a few coaches — due to the flu, the Vikings found a way to not only field a lineup, but knock off the Bengals at Coeur d’Alene HIgh.
“It was a gutty performance by our kids,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We had to fill-in with some guys, and a few wrestled that were feeling the best, but they sucked it up and got through it. I was really happy with those guys stepping up. They were facing some adversity and rose to the occasion.”
Coeur d’Alene competes at the George Wild Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Kellogg High.

ST. MARIES — With double forfeits in the final three weights of the night, St. Maries coach Denny Humphrey was trying to get updated on what the criteria was to break a tie between the Lumberjacks and Bears at St. Maries High.
Then, just as quickly, his 3A team was walking off the mat with a second straight win over the 5A Bears.
Moscow was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct after the 285-pound match. That point deduction gave the dual win to the Lumberjacks.
“It was a great dual,” Humphrey said. “It was back and forth the entire way. I was just glad our young kids were able to pull it out against a bigger school and help build some confidence early in the season.”
Kelby Harvey (132 pounds), Jerrett Brebner (144), Aiden Yearout (165), Zack Sotin (190) and Rustle Brusseau (215) had pins for St. Maries, which competes in the George Wild Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Kellogg High.
