NIC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Balanced Cardinals top Columbia Basin
COEUR d’ALENE — Chloe Collin, Kylani Rookstool and Iratxe Amorrortu scored 15 points each for North Idaho College, which limited visiting Columbia Basin of Pasco, Wash., to 25% shooting in a 77-47 nonconference win at Rolly Williams Court on Wednesday.
“We’ve been putting an emphasis on getting better defensively,” NIC coach Nathan Covill said. “The offensive piece was great, but to told them to 25% was really good. We wanted to come out and apply the pressure on them. They attacked us really well in the first quarter, but we did a great job in the second half.”
Summer Faleafa had 10 points and seven rebounds, Collin added four assists for NIC (6-4), which has won three straight.
“They’re understanding how to find open shooters,” Covill said. “Chloe has been doing a good job of filling up the state sheet and it’s been nice for her to throw dimes to other people as well.”
Amber Swan scored 19 points for Columbia Basin (6-4).
NIC hosts Yakima Valley on Saturday at 2 p.m.
