COEUR d’ALENE — A woman was found dead Wednesday near her Cougar Gulch home following a multiday investigation.

Sharon Davidson, 65, was last seen around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning near her home, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. It is believed that she was not wearing weather-appropriate clothing when she left her home.

A detective was assigned to the case Monday, according to the sheriff’s office.

A team of volunteers began searching for Davidson at first light Wednesday and found her body within an hour, Sgt. Ryan Miller said Thursday. Davidson’s body was found within an acre of her home, outside her property line, according to the sheriff’s office.

While the official cause of death has not been released, foul play has been ruled out and the death is not suspicious in nature, Sifford said.

According to Sifford, Davidson did not have any known medical conditions that would have caused her to become disoriented or wander off.

The investigation into Davidson’s death is ongoing.
