| December 11, 2024 10:30 AM

A Sandpoint man was hurt in a crash that occurred about 3 a.m. Wednesday near the 1700 block of Upper Pack River Road, north of Sandpoint.

According to a press release from the Idaho State Police, a 2012 Kia Sorento was westbound on Upper Pack River Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the eastbound lanes and left the road, striking a tree.

The vehicle was occupied by an 18-year-old male from Sandpoint who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The male was transported to a hospital by ground ambulance. At this time, the investigation indicates that speed may have been a factor in the incident, the release said.

An investigation continues.

The Bonner County Sheriff's Office and Bonner County EMS assisted during the crash.
