Joseph Carson, 96
Joseph Carson passed away peacefully Nov. 5, 2024, at the age of 96 in Post Falls, Idaho. Born on Nov. 19, 1927, Joseph, affectionately known as "Boe" in his hometown of Wallace, Idaho, lived a life marked by warmth, generosity and leadership.
Joseph graduated from Wallace High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Idaho, followed by a master's degree in business from Western University in Santa Ana, Calif. His professional life was distinguished by significant tenures in various companies. He spent 23 years at Longview Fibre, where he was an accountant and customer service manager. He was also active in the Fibre Federal Credit Union, serving on the board of directors for 10 years, including four years as president. Joseph's career also included roles as vice president of sales at Brudi Equipment and Sowa & Sons. He later enjoyed leading caravans of RVs to Mexico and Alaska as a wagon master.
Joseph's military service was equally notable, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and six months, and later in the U.S. Army from December 1952 to June 1954 during the Korean conflict. His commitment to service was a defining element of his character.
An active member of the community, Joseph was the Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, holding the longest membership of 79 years. His leadership and dedication to service were evident in every aspect of his life.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Velva Carson, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage and his companion, Elaine Elbert. He is survived by his children, Kenny, Connie and Kris Carson, along with five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Joseph will be cremated and buried next to his wife, Velva, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. His life was a testament to the power of community, service, and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
