Men who died in Mica Flats fire identified
The identities of two victims of a fatal house fire Nov. 24 were identified Tuesday as brothers Wyatt Weller, 27, and Garrett Weller, 26.
Both men lived at the home in the Mica Flats area, according to a press release from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Kootenai County Coroner’s Office and Idaho State Fire Marshal.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the release said.
KCSO and firefighters responded to a call reporting a possible explosion and fire around 7:25 p.m. in the 8600 block of West Carnie Road. The home was fully engulfed when they arrived and it took several hours to extinguish the fire.
During the initial search of the property, a victim was found. A second search a few hours later resulted in a second victim being found in the rubble, a press release said.
The home, which had been in the family for decades, was a total loss.
Two accounts on GoFundMe have raised nearly $20,000 for the victims' family.
Mica Kidd Island Fire District and Worley Fire Protection District responded to the blaze.
