Kay Frances Garitone, 82

| December 3, 2024 1:00 AM

Kay Frances Garitone, 82, of Wallace, Idaho, passed away Nov. 19, 2024, at the Schneidmiller House, Hospice of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A lifelong resident of Wallace, Kay was born Feb. 10, 1942, to Frank and Bernadine Kelly.

She graduated from Wallace High School in 1960. Then, in 1962, Kay married Ron Garitone at St. Alphonsus Church in Wallace. They were married for 55 years before Ron’s passing in 2017.

Kay had retired from the Shoshone County Courthouse after 25 years of service. Kay loved golfing with her ladies' group and truly missed playing golf these past few years. She also loved being out and about in Wallace going to the Elks dinners, the Sixth Street Melodrama and running into friends and neighbors. Her favorite, though, was the monthly get-togethers with “Club,” her friendship group, which started over 50 years ago and continues today.

Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Ron, and her parents, Frank and Bernadine Kelly.

Kay is survived by her children, Lori Garitone, Marc (Stacey) Garitone and Lisa (Brian) Jordan; four grandchildren, Andrew (Ember) Garitone, Elizabeth Garitone, Madison and Aidan Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Stella Graham and Lilly Garitone; three sisters, Pat (Norm) Wiegele, Barbara (Jim) Barry and Janice (John) Knowles; as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces/nephews, friends and her loving and faithful companion, Buddy.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Wallace, Idaho, followed by a gathering at the Wallace Elks.

Kay’s family would like to thank Hospice of North Idaho for the great care in the final days of Kay’s life. A special thank you to Tracy Maravilla and Cleo Morris for their care and friendship over the last year.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay’s honor may be made to the Sixth Street Melodrama, Box 1243, Wallace, ID 83873, or to Meals on Wheels, 726 E. Mullan Ave., Osburn ID 83849.
