PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Badgers open with win over Sandpoint

BONNERS FERRY — Senior Asher Williams, a Montana State commit, scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Bonners Ferry Badgers to an 80-44 win over the Sandpoint Bulldogs in the season opener for both schools at Bonners Ferry High on Saturday. 

Senior Brody Rice and junior Sulay Abubakari scored 14 points each for Bonners Ferry, which claimed the state 3A championship last March at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa. 

Sophomore Knox Williams scored 10 points for Sandpoint. 

Sandpoint faces Kendrick next Saturday at Lewiston High. 

Bonners Ferry hosts Stillwater Christian of Kalispell, Mont., next Saturday.
