Kootenai County, NIC candidates file for November races

COEUR d’ALENE — The deadline to file for the Nov. 5 general election has passed. The following candidates are running for positions in Kootenai County government or on the North Idaho College board of trustees. 

County races 

The race for Kootenai County sheriff is crowded, with incumbent Bob Norris set to face three independent candidates: Justin Nagel, Kyle Woodward and Dan Wilson. 

District 3 Commissioner Leslie Duncan will face independent challenger Roger Rowland. 

Republican candidate Marc Eberlein will run unopposed for Commissioner District 1. 

Kootenai County prosecuting attorney Stan Mortensen, a Republican, will also run unopposed. 

North Idaho College 

Three of the five seats on NIC’s nonpartisan board of trustees are up for election in November. Two of the three current trustees will not seek reelection. 

William Lyons and Rick Durbin will square off for the Zone 3 seat currently occupied by Todd Banducci, who is not running for reelection. 

In Zone 4, Eve Knudtsen seeks to unseat incumbent Greg McKenzie. 

A three-way race for Zone 5 is taking shape, with Leslie Duncan, Mary Havercroft and Michael Angiletta filing to run for the trustee position. Current trustee Mike Waggoner is not running for reelection.
