Robert 'Bob' Bradley Doerr, 74

| August 29, 2024 1:00 AM

Robert “Bob” Bradley Doerr, 74, of Hayden Lake, Idaho, left the loving arms of his family into the welcoming arms of his Heavenly Father on Aug. 21, 2024. He passed away in his home surrounded by his children. Bob was born Aug. 11, 1950, to Reynold and Irene Doerr in Riverdale, N.D. As a boy, he lived with his family in Riverdale, Rugby and Fargo, then settled in Underwood, N.D., where he graduated high school in 1969. After graduating high school, he attended Wahpeton State School of Science, earned a degree in mechanics, specialized his training with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and became ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified.

Bob married Marsha Anderson on Nov. 25, 1971, and together they raised their three children, Missy, Annie and Andrew. Bob was employed by Goodyear for many years, transferred to multiple locations throughout South Dakota, North Dakota and Colorado. In 1983, Bob relocated his family for the final time, settling in Northern Idaho, where he proudly started his own auto repair business. Bob sold his business and retired in 2022.

Bob was a proud "Papa" of 13 grandchildren. He made many generous donations to their school/ sports fundraisers and made it his mission to be present for every first birthday, baby dedication and baptism, as many athletic scrimmage/games as possible, many milestones, holidays, special occasions, as well as Patriots Super Bowl games, and even a Pats celebration parade. He never gave up on his No. 1 Denver Broncos though.

Bob left an impression on many with his loyalty, compassion, generosity and unapologetic sense of humor. Family and friends always knew they could call on him for anything. Bob enjoyed sports, hunting, camping, fishing, golfing and poker with his buddies. He took pride in keeping up with his immaculate lawn, caring for his roses and his massive “Charlie Brown” tree. His impressive hat collection tells a story of all the people he has touched and the relationships therein.

Bob is survived by his children and grandchildren: Melisa (Doerr) and Russell Dean of Exeter, N.H., their children: Rowan, Troy, Sara; Annette (Doerr) and Rob Bergin of Brentwood, N.H., their children: Jack, George, Lucy; Andrew and Destiny Doerr of Port Orchard, Wash., their children: Christian, Grace, Josiah, Matthew, Joshua, Hannah, Emma; sisters Jackie Hager, Nancy (Rich) Patnode, Camey Huncovsky, Robin Kroeger. Family was everything to Bob, and his friends were his family. He is deeply loved and mourned by many close friends, neighbors, dedicated customers, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Bob is preceded in death and welcomed in heaven by his sister, Connie Sayler; sister Linda Stengel; parents Reynold and Harriet Doerr; mother Irene Hendrickson; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the “Children’s Village,” as Bob often reminded his family to give a salute whenever passing by a children’s home since they were such a support to him when he needed it most. (www.thechildrensvillage.org)

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation and final arrangements. A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date. Please visit Bob’s online memorial and sign his guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
