Coeur d'Alene sending firefighters to help

The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department is sending two firefighters to help battle wildfires.

Firefighter Keith Benz is being sent to the Whisky Fire near Hood River, Ore., to provide medical assistance along the fire lines. 

This fire is currently over 2,000 acres with 24% containment and is under investigation as being human-caused, a press release said.

Firefighter Travis Georgius is being sent to the Sharrott Creek Fire near Hamilton, Mont. He will be part of the incident management team with the responsibility of helping to coordinate medical resources for this fire. 

The Sharrott Creek Fire is over 1,000 acres with 0% containment at this time. This fire was caused by lightning and has resulted in evacuations of residents by the Ravalli County Sheriff's Department.

Both deployments are expected to last at least two weeks.
