City of Post Falls to begin Spokane Street enhancement project

| August 27, 2024 11:55 AM

The city of Post Falls is set to begin enhancement projects on Spokane Steet, from the intersection of Seltice Way to the Spokane River Bridge.

Starting on Sept. 3, workers will be laying new asphalt as well as upgrading utilities and ADA-accessible ramps. Work will also include sewer manhole repairs and a new BNSF rail crossing. The Idaho Transportation Department also extended paving work to include the roadway between Interstate 90 and Seltice Way, which was funded separately.

Pedestrian routes will be adjusted throughout the project, but access to local businesses will be maintained, according to the city.

While this project is ongoing, several detours and staged traffic controls will be in place:

• Northbound: Detour via Henry Street, with southbound traffic maintained on Spokane Street.
• Southbound: Detour via Henry Street, with northbound traffic maintained on Spokane Street.
• BNSF Rail Improvements: All traffic will be detoured on Henry Street.
• Seltice & I-90 Intersections: Work will be done at night and prompt lane reductions; I-90 ramp closures will be coordinated with ITD.
The enhancement projects are expected to be completed in November.
