PREP FOOTBALL: Charley pushes Lakeside past Coeur du Christ in program's first game

WORLEY — Junior quarterback Tyson Charley accounted for six touchdowns for the Lakeside Knights in a 54-32 win over Coeur du Christ, the North Star League newcomers first game as a program at the Marimn Health Coeur Center on Friday night.

Coeur du Christ joined the Idaho High School Activities Association as a full member this fall, adding football this season.

Charley scored on a 12-yard run to give Lakeside, playing its first game with former Lake City High and Montana star Jerry Louie-McGee as coach, a 10-0 with 6:02 remaining in the first quarter.

Coeur du Christ scored its first points after a snap went over Charley’s head through the back of the endzone with 1:26 remaining in the first quarter.

Sophomore John Denke scored the Saints’ first touchdown on a 12-yard run to cut the deficit to 14-10 following a two-point conversion.

Charley connected with Jemari Peone on touchdown passes of 66-, 10- and 6-yards to give the Knights a 34-10 advantage midway into the third quarter.

Coeur du Christ freshman quarterback Grant Clemens threw for two touchdown passes, the second to freshman Eli Zember to cut the deficit to 48-32 with 3:59 remaining.

Peone scored on a 39-yard run to close out the scoring for Lakeside, which travels to Clark Fork next Friday.

Coeur du Christ faces Wallace next Friday at the Marimn Health Coeur Center in Worley.

MOSCOW — Butch Kiblen scored four touchdowns for the 4A Bears in a victory over the 3A Wildcats at Bear Field.

Kellogg travels to North Fremont on Sept. 6.

Moscow travels to Caldwell next Friday.

SILVERTON — Freshman quarterback Cooper Miller ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more — both to Julian Davis — in a nonleague win over the Spartans on Weippe at Sather Field.

Wallace opens North Star League play next Friday against Coeur du Christ at the Marimn Health Coeur Center in Worley.

Timberline hosts Potlatch next Friday.
