'Fast and Furrr-ious': Hayden animal shelter plans fundraiser
Companions Animal Center's largest annual fundraiser is coming up fast and furious.
The 19th annual Tails at Daylight: Fast and Furrr-ious is scheduled 12:30 to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Stateline Speedway.
Already, about 200 tickets have been sold.
The event generally brings in more than $100,000 for the nonprofit, non-kill shelter and organizers are confident it will do the same this year.
Development director Vicky Nelson said the event will include food, fun, furry friends and auctions, with one prize being a trip for two to Las Vegas and a chance to drive a race car.
Funds will go to CAC operations and caring for the hundreds of dogs, cats and other animals that wind up at the shelter at 10275 N. Atlas Road in Hayden.
CAC also continues to raise money for its capital campaign that paid for its new home that opened in early 2023. It has raised $6.7 million toward the $8 million goal.
This year, it has adopted out 672 animals and has a 98.5% save rate, which is one of the highest in the nation.
Tickets are $100.
