William J. Lyons said he is seeking a position on the North Idaho College board of trustees for Zone 3.

"My vision is to assist in focus on NIC producing successful graduates with the tools needed to succeed in life," he said in a press release. "I vow to keep NIC a local college, and for the local community."

Lyons is retired and relocated five years ago to Post Falls from Temecula, Calif. He has been married to his wife of 54 years, Gay. Together they have one son who resides in Duvall, Wash.

He last held a position with Emerson Process Management in California managing the sales, installation of instrumentation and control systems for several petrochemical refineries in the Los Angeles area, the release said.

Previously, he was the area sales manager for Invensys Flow Controls for the western United States. In addition to his professional career, Lyons has held a treasurer board position with the Instrumentation Society of America, Los Angeles region, and is currently serving as a board member of the Idaho State Rifle and Pistol Association.

Lyons is a graduate from ITT Technical Institute, holding an associate degree in electrical engineering. He achieved positions in the bio-medical field in junior engineering, design and developmental positions, and lastly as designing and marketing for related respiratory medical equipment, the release said.

"In my opinion, the traditional four-year colleges are producing students facing financial burdens, not to mention a saturated workforce," Lyons said.
