VA: Math just doesn’t add up

When does 30% and 50% equal 60%?

When the Veterans Administration is doing the math.

Recently I became aware of a veteran with a 30% disability who was then granted a 50% disability for an additional service-connected condition. Naturally we thought that would result in a disability rating of 80%. However, the VA does their own version of math and rated the veteran with a total disability rating of only 60%.

This is an outrage to all veterans with service- connected disabilities. This practice of creative VA math robs service-connected veterans of financial compensation for their disabilities.

I urge anyone who is in this situation to write or call your U.S. Congressional Representatives and Senators to address this unfair practice. I certainly will be writing them.

Our veterans with disabilities deserve better from the VA.
