Larry Field, 91

| August 21, 2024 1:00 AM

Larry Dean Field was born June 27, 1933, in Mankato, Minn., to Andrew Thomas Field and Gail Clarabelle Field (Paulson). Larry went home to the Lord on Aug. 17, 2024, while at his home in Hayden, Idaho, surrounded by family and close friends.

At 9 years old, Larry’s family moved to Sacramento, Calif. At 17 he joined the Navy, serving as a fireman on the battleship Iowa in the Korean Conflict. After completing his Navy service, Larry received a degree in business psychology at Sacramento State. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and became a fighter pilot, reaching the rank of Colonel. While continuing as a reservist in the Marine Corps, he flew for United Airlines for 29 years.

Larry married Kay Fariss Carmichael in 1959. They had three daughters, Neva, Monica and Eden. Larry and Kay moved to North Idaho in 1992, where Kay lost her battle with cancer, going home to the Lord in 1994.

In 2003, Larry married Janice Kay Meyer (just celebrating their 21st anniversary). Larry is survived by his wife, Jan; daughters Neva Keyes (husband, William), Eden Bonnett (husband, Rick), and son-in-law Dan Lewis (married to daughter Monica who went home to the Lord in 2021); grandchildren: Morgan Garihan, Will Keyes, Hailey Lewis, Brianna Danovsky (Lewis); and three great-grandchildren.

Larry enjoyed playing basketball, hunting, golf, road trips and chartering boat trips. He was a volunteer fireman in Worley, Idaho, and he held a black belt in martial arts. However, these were always second to his love for the Lord, his adoring wife, Jan, family and close friends.

Larry had an amazing gift of making everyone comfortable; always focused on others, never himself. He continually and humbly served those around him. He will be missed but he leaves something to be cherished in so many lives.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home — Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, Idaho. A graveside with military honors will follow the funeral service at Riverview Cemetery, 1065 Lincoln Way, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814, and then a reception will follow back at Yates Funeral Home — Hayden Chapel. Please visit Larry’s online memorial and sign his guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
