Alice May Edmondson, 91
Alice May Edmondson, of Hayden, Idaho, passed away at her Hayden home Aug. 9, 2024. Alice was born May 14, 1933, to James and Reine Archambault (Moupan) in Hollywood, Calif.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Reneé Billman. She is survived by her children, Matthew Edmondson, Michelle Matthews (Harold), Mari Edmondson (Mark) and Andy Edmondson (Kim); her grandchildren, Chris Edmondson (Jessica), Reine Nelson (Greg), Kenny Edmondson (Sabrina) and Juliann Slater (Seth); and great-granddaughters Hunter, Layla and Liana.
Alice grew up with horses and she and her husband, Tom, moved their family to their Coeur d’Alene ranch on Mica Flats in 1964. The family ran a dude ranch for many years from that location. Alice worked as a secretary for the Steelworkers union and worked in the painting department at Pendar (which later became General Instruments). She was a proud member of the Steelworkers union; having picketed for workers’ retirement benefits.
Alice had many hobbies and was an avid reader. Most notably, she was a member of the Sweet Adelines for many years and traveled abroad singing with them. She was very proud of the group and friends she made while singing in places like Sydney, Australia; Ireland; England; Scotland; Fairbanks, Alaska; and Edmonton, Canada. Alice was also a member of Curves for many years and enjoyed visiting with those she “worked out” with. If you were a friend or family member, rest assured Alice prayed to the Blessed Mother for you every day.
Alice passed away at home peacefully and with the compassionate care and support of Hospice of North Idaho (HONI) who provided Alice’s family with the resources and support we didn’t even know we needed. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alice’s memory can be made to HONI.
A memorial date has not yet been set. Please visit Alice’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at englishfuneralchapel.com.
