Susan Lynn Murphy, 76

| August 20, 2024 1:00 AM

A force of nature known for her infectious energy and boundless love, Susan Lynn Murphy, 76, passed away peacefully Aug. 8, 2024, surrounded by family.

Susan, a firecracker from birth (Feb. 12, 1948), was born in Plainfield, N.J., to James and Marjory Foster. Raised in sunny Santa Ana, Calif., she graduated from Santa Ana Valley High School in 1966.

Her vibrant spirit was evident early on. Whether out playing her brother, Gene, at baseball, pursuing excellence in music with clarinet, piano and organ, or proudly showcasing her 13-fish haul from a childhood fishing trip, she approached everything with solid determination. Together, Susan and her husband, Fred “Skip” Murphy, were an inseparable team, working side by side operating Murphy Marine Construction, Inc. and Murphy’s Landing Marina. Family was her anchor, and holidays and days spent on the lake with her husband were sources of immense joy.

For 40 remarkable years, Susan and Skip shared an amazing love. Their unwavering bond served as the foundation for their beautiful family. Susan leaves behind a legacy of six children: Lynn (Terrance) Gay, Shelly Murphy, Kara (Robert) Crisp, Bill (Irene) Downey, Shaunesy Murphy and Loretta (Michael) Jensen. Her legacy extends to her cherished grandchildren: Rose, Lily, Violet, Daisy and Jasper Gay; Nathan Moore; Laura Murphy and Allyson Crisp; Luke and Daniel Downey; and Mezekiel and Makarios Jensen, as well as four great-grandchildren. Her brother, Gene Foster, also survives her.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at Yates Funeral Homes located at 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814. A reception will follow from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. aboard the Mish-an-Nock Cruise Boat embarking from The Coeur d'Alene Resort.
