MY TURN: Regan out of new material
Like Donald Trump, Mr. Regan appears to be running out of new material. His Opinion of Aug. 9 is the same old, boring, negative propaganda, threats and disinformation.
If Mr. Regan wants a game plan for how Trump ends democracy (otherwise known as our democratic republic), I strongly encourage him to go online and read through all 922 pages of Project 2025 and Agenda 47. Project 2025, Agenda 47 and Trump's words and actions are proof that he is a threat to our American way of life; that he must never be anywhere near the White House again. He is less fit today than he was in 2016. Trump has already told us that he will suspend large portions of the Constitution; he’s also recently told people they’ll never have to vote again. What this means to anyone with an ounce of common sense is that the rule by, for and of the people is over and America becomes an autocracy with Trump as dictator. Unlike Trump, Democrats are trying to protect our rights across the country, not just in Democrat controlled areas.
Trump's administration plans to weaponize the Department of Justice, the FBI and IRS, et al, to go after his political opponents if re-elected; he has stated this many times. He certainly attempted to do so during his reign from 2016 to 2020. Mr. Regan projects Democrats using “lawfare” to defeat opponents when it is Trump and his MAGA group who have done exactly that. Trump has routinely stated plans to go after the “criminal Biden family” if re-elected; although he fails to mention what crimes the Biden family may have committed.
Contrary to Mr. Regan's nonsense, President Biden continues to act in the best interest of this country and its people. He will do so through his tenure as president. One of many of Biden’s selfless acts over a long public service career to America was deciding not to run again. His actions since 2020 have turned this country around — all-time unemployment lows, investments in infrastructure, growth in manufacturing, increased wages, progress in clean energy development, lower crime rates and recovery from the Covid crisis are a short list of his many accomplishments. Trump is only concerned with his own interests to regain power and avoid incarceration.
The will of the people have responded with energy and enthusiasm to VP Harris and Mr. Walz. This is evidenced by the outpouring of support for the VP Harris/Walz ticket in donations, volunteerism and attendance at rallies. It is easy to support VP Harris for president. Clearly, she will continue to work FOR the American people, protecting the rule of law and our rights and freedoms as we currently enjoy them, as well as ensuring that America is competently represented on the world stage.
Trump incited a riot and insurrection in order to remain in power. Democrats will do all they can legally to ensure free and fair elections so our democratic republic continues to provide an example to the world.
If Mr. Regan can’t hear Democrats' words, it is because he simply is not listening. To be well-informed and to make well-informed decisions, it’s only common sense to listen to (and hear) what all sides have to say.
