Task Force, Gissel donate to Gonzaga

The Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations and attorney Norm Gissel made significant donations to Gonzaga University this year.

The task force board donated its 43-year collection of documents, letters, videos and other items to Gonzaga University Foley Library last year, according to its recent newsletter.

This year, the KCTFHR donated more than $30,000 to hire a part-time archivist at the Gonzaga Foley Library to organize the collection. The collection will then be given to a digital archivist to put the collection online to be accessible to colleges and universities around the world as well as the general public.

Much of the same collection is online at the North Idaho College Molstead Library.

Last spring, former KCTFHR attorney Norm Gissel gifted his large collection of materials from the Keenans v. Aryan Nations civil trial held in 2000 to the Gonzaga University Foley Library and the GU Law School, the newsletter said.

The Gonzaga University Law School is preparing to organize the two-year preparation materials and evidence used in the Keenans v. Aryan Nations civil trial to instruct law students on methods and procedures in preparing a major civil case.

"This will possibly be a unique approach in a lesson of hands on for training the students," the newsletter said.
