Federal grant funds upgrades to Coeur d’Alene Airport

The Coeur d’Alene Airport is one of three in Idaho to receive new airport infrastructure grants from the Federal Aviation Administration. 

The FAA is awarding $556 million through 296 grants in 47 states to modernize airports as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Airport Infrastructure Grants program, according to a news release. 

The grant funds can be used for airport planning, development, sustainability, terminal expansions, baggage system upgrades, runway safety enhancements and noise compatibility projects at eligible airports.

The Coeur d’Alene Airport has received $784,757 to improve service roads and install taxi lighting. 

“The funding we’re announcing today, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will help airports across the country make needed improvements to ensure safety, efficiency and sustainability for years to come,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a news release. 

The Joslin Field/Magic Valley Regional Airport in Twin Falls received $327,349 to reconstruct terminal road access, while the Lewiston/Nez Perce County Airport received $217,349 to reseal apron and taxiway pavement.
