REGAN: Unite, rather than divide
Your Friday editorial is ironically self-describing, as you continue sowing division amongst our populace. Your 1984 quote was perfect, threading careful wording so we doubt our own observations.
Trump did not directly say that Charlottesville white supremacists were fine people. Trump did say “…but you also had people, that were very fine people, on both sides…” as he discussed the removal of a Charlottesville statue. Trump did not tell people to drink or inject bleach to fight COVID, but shared ideas which “…sound interesting…,” that included injecting bleach. And the people who broke into our nation’s capital on Jan. 6 were there to disrupt the presidential election certification.
ALL news sources sell a narrative, but I disagree that “…the news is mostly fake…” Related, please share your source that President Biden was “…likely given the option of withdrawing from the race or being removed from office using the 25th Amendment…”
Equally ironic is your “the emperor has no clothes” usage. Each president has accomplished things that both benefitted and harmed our country, but you fail to hold Trump accountable for the lies, inappropriate language and anti-Christian behaviors repeatedly observed firsthand. I understand why you won’t, but failing to do so ensures your hypocrisy as you criticize those protecting President Biden.
The Democratic Party is not “…largely composed of liberal women and their beta male allies…” While I may not agree with their political views, they remain our neighbors and friends. REAL leaders focus on the truth, and refrain from name calling and inflammatory language.
Our community needs people willing to unite people with dissimilar perspectives. Do better… it’s just common sense.
