Helicopter unit helps find crash victim
Kootenai County’s helicopter unit helped first responders locate a person who was ejected from a car crash Saturday, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Kootenai County Regional Air Support Unit, dubbed ABLE1, responded to a request for support Saturday night in the area of Pope Road near Corbin Hill Road, where a rollover crash had occurred.
Crews from Northern Lakes Fire District and Timberlake Fire had already responded to the crash, along with sheriff’s deputies.
The helicopter spotted a person who had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash and landed on the opposite side of the road, according to police. The individual was conscious but seriously injured.
An initial investigation determined the crash originated on U.S. 95, police said, so the investigation was turned over to the Idaho State Police.
