| August 6, 2024 1:00 AM

Caroles Crissy Furber, Jr., 97, of Westminster, Colo., and formerly of Osburn, Idaho, peacefully passed away July 28, 2024, in Westminster, Colo.

Caroles was born Dec. 2, 1927, to Caroles and Fern Furber in San Francisco, Calif., and grew up in the Redwood Valley. In 1950, Caroles married his childhood sweetheart, Lita M. Stimson, and worked for Lockheed Martin. Together, they built a family, and shortly after the birth of his second daughter, Caroles was drafted and served during the Korean War as a maintenance helper, where he worked on airplanes and helicopters.

After leaving the military, Caroles supported his family by working for the California Department of Highways, where he stayed for 27 years.

Eventually, Caroles and Lita moved to Idaho to be closer to family. There, he spent time teaching his grandchildren how to fish, shoot and read via the Sunday comics. Caroles was also a skilled carpenter and enjoyed building models. Along with creating toys that have been passed down and are still enjoyed by his great-grandchildren today, Caroles also built a model railroad in his basement, much to the amusement of his grandson.

In 2022, Caroles moved to Westminster, Colo., to be close to his family again and so that they could help care for him.

Caroles is preceded in death by his wife, Lita, and grandson Shawn.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda and Kathy; grandchildren Lance, Amanda, Grace and Richard; and great-grandchildren Dillian, Dakota, Tommie Jo, Emmie Lee and Merriam.

Graveside services with military honors will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Day Cemetery, Osburn, Idaho.
