Jarom Enos Zimmerman, 40
A true North Idaho man, 40-year-old Jarom E. Zimmerman of Hayden, Idaho, passed away July 27, 2024, due to complications from the recent return of his leukemia (AML) cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Kristi (Astin) Zimmerman, and their three beautiful daughters, Kennedy, Payton and Reagan. Jarom also leaves behind his parents, Frank and Sonja Zimmerman of Hayden, Idaho, along with his four siblings, Cobi (Rob) Foxx, Caleb (Tami) Zimmerman, Gabe (Sarah) Zimmerman and Maggie (Jon) Greene.
Born in Bonners Ferry and raised in Hayden for his school-aged years, Jarom’s North Idaho roots were reflected in his many passions and interests. He grew up logging with his father, Frank. Jarom's love of the outdoors was evident as he spent much of his time enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, dirt biking, snowmobiling, skiing, cliff jumping and all watersports.
Kristi became his eternal adventure partner after they were sealed together in the Bountiful, Utah, temple in 2011. As their family grew, Jarom took pleasure in raising his three girls in the outdoor activities he always loved. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, you could find Jarom helping others or working on projects for his family; the most recent was building a beautiful structure on their property that his family will enjoy for years to come.
Jarom graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 2003. He then served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Jarom returned home to attend Boise State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, and later completed his Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.
His career began when he was commissioned into the United States Navy and completed extensive training to become a nuclear engineer. His years in the U.S. Navy took him and his family to many parts of the country (Rhode Island, Utah, South Carolina, New York, Connecticut, Guam), but they spent most of their time in the Navy stationed at the Naval Base Kitsap in Washington, where he served as a Lieutenant aboard the USS Michigan, a nuclear-powered guided-missile submarine. After his service in the U.S. Navy, Jarom applied his leadership skills as he worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Boise and in Colorado as manager of the FryingPan-Arkansas Hydroelectric System. Jarom’s successful professional career continued to advance as he became the CEO and General Manager of the Tri-Dam Power Authority in Northern California and, most recently, the CEO and General Manager of the Transmission Agency of Northern California (TANC).
Of the many accolades and accomplishments that Jarom achieved in life, he considered none greater than his primary legacy of growing and raising a family with his beloved wife, Kristi. He loved his girls more than anything else, was so proud of them and always put them first in life. He will be dearly missed and always remembered as a patriotic man of faith, friendship and family.
