DRUGS: Letter doesn’t represent reality

As I read (and re-read) Steven Reynalds letter published April 19 “Drugs — Time to Nationalize Them” I couldn’t decide if Mr. Reynalds was trying to be sarcastic or not.
Make opioids street legal generating tax revenue. Those drugs and especially fentanyl are cheap to acquire or produce. The drug cartels will simply lower the cost on the street making the legal retail version unaffordable.
Since Mr. Reynalds chose to put “border crisis” in quote marks, I’m guessing he doesn’t think there is a crisis. And who is the “our” who has the goal of socialized medicine? Not a majority of “us.”
