EDITORIAL: More like an ad for NIR

| April 24, 2024 1:00 AM

Was this “Editorial” entitled “Before you vote, please do this” [Sunday, April 14] in reality a plug for the North Idaho Republicans?

I take issue with both “solutions” proposed: Republican voters requesting their absentee ballot, and once your ballot arrives, go to “northidahorepublicans.org.”

First, UNLESS you are not in town, go to the polls in person. Sounds rather old-fashioned, but this certainly helps to prevent voter fraud. And, yes, there most assuredly is voter fraud, regardless of how the MSM endlessly repeats to the contrary.

Second, a press release from the Kootenai County GOP takes issue with the North Idaho Republicans (NIR) as portraying themselves as being the “official voice” of the Republican Party for North Idaho. In encouraging, and apparently endorsing the NIR in this editorial, this certainly misleads the public (more specifically, the VOTERS) into thinking this is the “official” endorsement for the Republican Party for North Idaho. Which it is not. NIR is not the “official” voice/spokesman for conservatives; that’d be the KCRCC.

In this KC GOP release [in Google, type in “kc press release nir for North Idaho,” article date July 27, 2023] the NIR, according to the KC GOP release, the NIR was “founded in 2022 by members who campaigned directly for Joe Biden.” And this letter states that the NIR “was previously hit with the maximum fine allowed by law for campaign finance violations after they falsely claimed to be a nonprofit while in fact operated as a Political Action Committee.”

Shame on Coeur d’Alene Press for printing an apparent endorsement disguised as a PSA; this amounts to FREE advertising for an organization misrepresenting itself as a voice of conservatives.
