BORAH: Instead, consider this
For the school district’s shortfall problem, before you look at shuttering Borah School, disrupting kids and parents lives, you better really think about shuttering that underused and taxpayer funded district office off Northwest Boulevard. Have the office and administrators work virtual or go pick a spot at a school to work. You also have two properties on Fourth Street that could be combined into one and one sold.
Parents have had to make major choices about kids and education since COVID. It’s time for the school district to make some cuts at the top first, start at Northwest Boulevard office, it’s not needed, it’s not convenient and it’s not at capacity.
Right now this is a district problem, but it’s a city and state problem, the growth we have had doesn’t necessarily add children to the school rolls, it is adding headaches. We’ve seen this for years. We shouldn’t be surprised now.
