VIGIL: Why I won’t be there

Thanks but no thanks North Idaho United for the invitation to your vigil on Saturday.

For me to attend would mean I have to accept the premise that our town is “racist and hate filled.” To ascribe that moniker to an entire city based on the supposed actions of a few idiots is irresponsible. 

I was born in Idaho and have lived here for many years. I know a lot of people here and I can truly say I don’t know one racist person. 

You are welcome to march if that makes you feel better but to lump us all into your premise seems to me to be virtue signaling at best. Let’s wait to see the evidence if there is any before we start with the mea culpas. 

I use the Martin Luther King yardstick. I judge people based on their character and not their skin color as do all but a very few people here… maybe. Let’s not let our feelings override the facts.
