| April 10, 2024 1:17 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Freshman Bam Fenter hit a three-run single in the third inning, then added a three-run double in the fourth inning for Coeur d’Alene, which rolled past Lewiston 19-0 in the first game of an Inland Empire League doubleheader at Ted Page Field on Tuesday.

Senior Aidan Blanco, who signed with Division III Whitworth University in Spokane earlier this week, allowed four hits and struck out four for Coeur d’Alene, which also got three RBIs from Nolan Christ and Gavin Helms in the opener.

“Bam had great at-bats all day,” Coeur d’Alene coach Erik Karns said. “Aidan had another great, well-pitched game and really shut down their offense.”

In the nightcap, senior Harrison Trunkey-Evans struck out 10 for the Vikings, who allowed three runs in the top of the eighth inning as the Bengals rallied for the split.

Kolbe Coey hit a three-run home run in the first inning of the second game for Coeur d’Alene.

“Both Lewiston and us are young teams and are learning to win close games,” Karns said. “For us to play in a tight game, we learned a lot about ourselves and how to get better from it.”
