SHERIFF: Showdown features a no-show
On Thursday, March 14, Sheriff Bob Norris invited challenger Dan Wilson to a “throw down” to address the unsubstantiated allegations leveled against the sheriff by Mr. Wilson. The sheriff offered a (personal) $1,000 charitable donation for each allegation proven true by Mr. Wilson.
As expected, Mr. Wilson was a no show. It didn’t take long to realize why Mr. Wilson chose to stay home, as each of those allegations was proven to be categorically false, as outlined in detail by the sheriff.
Interestingly, Dan Wilson had claimed to be a Republican and after accepting campaign donations, presumably from Republicans, changed his party affiliation to independent. Why? Perhaps because it allows him to bypass the May primary and guarantees that his name will be on the November ballot.
Sheriff Bob Norris has 30+ years of full-time law enforcement experience, while the guy who refers to himself as “the Idaho sheriff” (who clearly thinks highly of himself) was a 12-year part time, commissioned reserve police officer. What has he done to believe he’s qualified to start at the top?
Perhaps more importantly, after proving his willingness to hurl blatant falsehoods at his opponent, why would anyone vote for Dan Wilson?
